Each farm we work with holds a stewardship role in the community of natural health and green living.
Zack Woods Herb Farm
Farmers Jeff and Melanie are committed to cultivating and protecting the highest quality medicinal herbs on their 10-acre farm in the Green Mountains of northern Vermont. For more than 10 years the couple has been tending their dream on this botanical sanctuary, where they grow more than forty varieties of medicinal herbs, from angelica to yellow dock root. All of the herbs are hand-harvested at the peak of potency and dried in a wood-fired drying shed. Jeff and Melanie both deepened their love for and knowledge of herbs under the guidance of herbalist Rosemary Gladstar at Sage Mountain Herbal Retreat Center.

In fact, the Flack’s have been running the Raw Milk Theater every year, a performance night filled with the creative and food-loving spirit that is this community. Barbara Flack also happens to be the most talented biodynamic herb grower in the area. Her phenomenal lemonbalm is found in our Sleep Tonic. Maple Lane Farms
This 120-acre, all-season farm in Connecticut, evolved from farmer Allyn’s 2-acre Christmas Tree Farm started in 1978, now boasts pick-your-own blueberries, raspberries, pumpkins and apples. But more than half of the farm’s acreage is devoted to 130,000 bushes of blackcurrants, a super fruit with three times the amount of Vitamin C as citrus fruits and more antioxidants than blueberries. Allyn is one of the largest growers of blackcurrants in the United States. Though wildly popular in Europe, these dark berries have only recently gained popularity in the States, due in part to Allyn’s pioneering efforts. Maple Lane Farm provides the blackcurrant juice for Roots Remedies’ Energy tonic.
